Rice senior vaulter McKenzie Johnson was named the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Rice Owls women’s track and field team shined bright on the final day of the Houston Invitational on Saturday, placing three athletes amongst the top collegiate performers in their respective events.

Rice senior vaulter McKenzie Johnson led a small Rice contingent on the opening day of the Houston Invitational Friday at Yeoman Field House.

The Rice Owls women's track and field team posted four, top-three results in their season-opening meet at Friday's Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational on the campus of the University of Houston.

The Rice women's track and field team will be competing for the first time in 2016 at Friday's Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston at Yeoman Fieldhouse.
