The Rice Owls men's track and field squad had just a few competitors on day one of the Texas A&M Invitational.

The Rice Owls men's track and field team closed out the final day of the Howie Ryan Invite with three top-five finishes, including a victory in the heptathlon from sophomore Scott Filip.

Rice sophomore Scott Filip finished the opening day of the Howie Ryan Invitational alone in first place in the men's heptathlon, accumulating 3191 points in four events with three left to go on Saturday.

The Rice Owls men's track and field squad sent a handful of athletes to the 2015 Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational on Friday for the indoor season-opening meet at University of Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse.
