After a two week hiatus, the Rice Owls women's track and field team returned to competition Friday for day one of the Howie Ryan Invitational at the University of Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse.

Rice track and field thrower Claire Uke was awarded the Conference USA Athlete of the Week following her winning performance at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational last weekend, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Rice senior thrower Claire Uke and sophomore jumper Cybil Obiozor each won an individual event at Friday's Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational, the Owls season-opening Indoor meet at the University of Houston.
